 Automated backup systems
Are your files valuable? If so do you have a backup system that works? Ask yourself some questions: - What do I do if I loose all my data on my computer?
- How long does it take to restore a file that I have lost today?
- Do I have offsite backups to ensure protection from data loss, fire or theft?
Almost all data files are stored on magnetic plates on an item called a Hard Drive or Hard Disk. These are mechanical devices that spins internally at a rapid rate every day, every night that your computer runs. Just like a car engine, they can fail. When they fail, your computer will not start, or you may loose your data files. This could be your emails, your contacts, digital photos, MYOB, QuickBooks data files, anything that you had stored on your computer or notebook PC. Without a copy on a backup system, getting back these files may not be possible. That is why we recommend a good backup system and procedures to be in place at your office. If you do have a backup system inplace, how long does it take to recover and restore that file? Does it take 1 hour? A day? Or longer? Is your business protected from dataloss? Are you insured for the cost that is invovled with data recovery from damaged or brokendown systems? These costs can be very high. In our experience with customers small or large is that backup systems are usually over looked. People do not make backups of their business data files a priority. It is too late when a power surge, lightning strike, hardware failure, fire or theft has caused you to loose everything. Hours of data entry, accounts information, invoices, emails, contacts are lost in an instant. Please protect youself from this occuring, and make sure that it is simple and easy for anyone to recover the lost file without spending too much time doing this. Our solutions for this is to setup automated backup systems that runs on a server, as well as a regular copy to CD or DVD media. You should have a copy at home or away from the office for additional data protection. We can provide a storage drive in a fireproof safe to ensure cover incase of fire damage. |
